Mark Griffin handled the purchase of the former Church of Christ Scientist property in Newburyport and obtained the permits necessary for the buyer to divide the land into three (3) separate lots. Working closely with Everett Chandler of Design Consultants, Inc., the lots were configured so as to comply with current zoning requirements. This required appearance in front of a joint meeting of the City Council and the Planning Board to defeat a proposed lot width ordinance which would have rendered the additional lots unbuildable. A variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals was also necessary, along with parcel swapping, reciprocal easements and a declaration of covenants and restrictions. Janos & Griffin handled all aspects of this project, up to and including, closing the lot sales.
